Plessy v. Ferguson
Homer Plessy was a one-eighth african american man who decided to challenge the Separate Car Act that declared whites and african americans had to use separate train cars. Plessy was arrested for this, and he took the case to court arguing that the action of making him move was unconstitutional. The courts vehemently disagreed and said that as long as the cars were equal there was no issue. This case brought the belief "separate but equal" to the forefront of the Civil Rights Movement.
